To Their Majesties, Their Excellencies the Baron and Baroness of River Haven, Count Stephen Aldred, and to the people of River Haven, greetings from Lady Eydis Ragnarsdottir and Lady Cristin verch Reys.

We come before you with full hearts to put ourselves forward as candidates for Baroness and Baroness of River Haven.
River Haven has a long and proud history, one shaped by the care, generosity, and dedication of its people. We believe that history lives not only in its traditions, but in the experiences we each carry with us. In many ways, everyone remembers their Baron and Baroness, the ones who were there when they first joined and who helped shape their earliest impressions of the SCA and what it could be.

For Lady Eydis, that sense of belonging began more than twenty years ago at a demonstration event. Drawn in by the atmosphere, the people, and the sense of wonder, she quickly found herself welcomed into the community and encouraged to become part of it. What followed was a journey shaped by service, helping to establish a canton, serving in officer roles, stepping onto the field in armour, working in kitchens, heralding, and forming friendships that have lasted a lifetime. Along the way, she learned that it is the small, consistent acts of support and encouragement that truly shape a person’s path. Those early experiences, and the people who guided and inspired her, continue to influence how she approaches the SCA today, and she remains deeply committed to offering that same guidance, encouragement, and sense of belonging to others.

For Lady Cristin, that memory is Baroness Josseline and Baron Dimitrii. She still remembers her first time in River Haven, being warmly greeted by His Excellency and receiving a simple but thoughtful newcomer’s gift. It was a small gesture, but it spoke volumes. It said, you are welcome here, you belong here. That moment stayed with her and helped shape her journey from that very first day. From those early experiences, she stepped into the SCA community with growing confidence, becoming a marshal, taking on the role of Seneschal with St Florian de la Riviere during a time of rebuilding, and learning firsthand how powerful encouragement and trust can be. Being welcomed, supported, and given opportunities has shaped her path, and she is deeply committed to offering that same care and encouragement to others.

Together, we have shared in the work of stewarding events across both baronies, including Great Northern War in 2025 and this year. We have seen firsthand the long hours, the problem solving, and the teamwork that bring something special to life. More importantly, we have seen how people come together to support each other, stepping in where needed, celebrating successes, and carrying one another through challenges.

These moments, both small and large, are what have shaped us, and they guide how we would serve.
If chosen, we want to help ensure that River Haven continues to be a place where everyone feels they belong, and where every person’s journey is encouraged and supported. We know how much those early experiences matter, and how lasting their impact can be. We want to help create those moments for others.

We would aim to:
Support each individual’s journey, offering encouragement, guidance, and recognition, whether someone is brand new or has been part of the SCA for decades

Honour the history of River Haven, building on the culture of generosity, learning, and shared joy that has made it so strong

Be present and approachable, working alongside our Seneschal and officers, helping where needed, and listening to our people

Strengthen our community, both within River Haven and across Lochac, by building connections and encouraging participation

Represent the Crown with pride and care, carrying out our duties with respect, warmth, and genuine enthusiasm, and serving as positive and visible representatives of both the Barony and the Kingdom

We understand that this role is not just an honour, it is a responsibility. It means showing up, putting in the work, and being there for people in both the big moments and the quiet ones. It means leading with fairness, kindness, and consistency. It also means fostering the joy, connection, and sense of belonging that make the SCA so special.

We would take on that responsibility wholeheartedly.

At its heart, the SCA is about people, about the moments that stay with us, and the experiences that shape us. River Haven has been part of that for so many, us included. If given the chance, we would do everything we can to honour that and help it continue for those who come after us.

We humbly ask for your consideration.
Yours in service to the Dream, Lady Eydis Ragnarsdottir and Lady Cristin verch Reys

A little about us…

I am Lady Eydis Ragnarsdottir, mundanely Jacqui Cavendish (nee McGarry). I was introduced to the SCA at a demonstration event in about 2001 while working as a journalist in Bundaberg. I loved the garb, the combat, the arts & sciences and most importantly the people I met. True to form, I wholeheartedly threw myself into assisting to establish the Canton of Burnfield and so commenced my SCA journey. I have formed life-long friendships and, to this day, the people in the SCA community make up my largest social network.

Over the past 20+ years I have held various officer positions including Chronicler (Canton of Burnfield), Seneschal (Canton of Draks Fjord), Herald (River Haven} and Chirurgeon (Barony of St Florian de la Riviere). I have been authorised in rapier combat and heavy combat, dabbled in archery, and enjoyed a multitude of A&S classes. I am currently an authorised heavy marshal working toward becoming a senior marshal, a siege marshal, and an attendant in the Royal Household. I have stewarded events (including Great Northern War for the past 2 years), performed as a herald, served in kitchens and on Royal and Baronial guards. Currently my passions include creating more authentic garb (inc Kievan Rus), gold work embroidery, glass beads, and creating opportunities for community engagement to attract and retain membership.

I am excited for the opportunity to nominate for Baroness of River Haven alongside my wife Lady Cristin verch Reys (Georgi Cavendish).

I am Lady Cristin verch Reys (aka Georgi Cavendish) and I am joining my wife, Lady Eydis Ragnarsdottir, in our joint nomination for Baroness & Baroness of River Haven.

I have been in the SCA for 4 years and have been an active member of both River Haven and St Florian de la Rivière throughout that time. I became a Target Archery Marshal in the first 6 months and was St Florian’s Seneschal from April 2023 to April 2025. I am currently the Lochac Kingdom Hospitaller, with my warrant ending in February 2028, and have a deputy who is enthusiastically assisting me in that role.

I have been fortunate to draw on my professional and personal experience serving on non-profit community boards. This experience was invaluable in my Seneschal role, where I helped support the post-COVID recovery in activities and membership. Building new friendships along the way has been an unexpected and treasured bonus.

While I enjoy exploring the many rabbit holes that A&S regularly take me, it is service that takes my attention the most. Any events that I am attending, will see me helping in some way, as well as stewarding events myself.

My current passion is SCA demos – not only learning the craft of a successful demo from those experienced in running them, but also developing a guide & kit of resources that Lochac groups can use to support their own demos.

Along the way, I have been presented with my Award of Arms from King Ratbot and Queen katherine, the Golden Tear from King Bain and Queen Iglesia and at the most recent Great Northern War this June, a Queen’s Cypher from Their Majesties. I am the first recipient of the St Florian de la Riviere Ceinture, from Baron William & Baroness Lovet. My peers are Master Dimitrii Borodinskii and Mistress Josseline de la Cour, Baron & Baroness of River Haven.
